1-36), (2) The Book af Similitudes (chaps. 37-7L) - , (3) Bog af astronomiske Skrifter (chaps. 72-82), (4) The Book of drømmesyner (chaps. 83-90) og (5) Den Bog Brev Enoch (chaps. 91-107 ) "-. Craig A. Evans, Noncanonical skrifter og Nye Testamente tolkning, (1992) p. 23
"- James C. Vanderkam
"Chaps.
James C. Vanderkam
(1) Bog Watchers (chaps. 1-36) 150-200 f.Kr.
(2) Bog Similitudes (chaps. 37-7L) 50 f.Kr.-200 e.Kr.
(3) Bog af astronomiske Skrifter (chaps. 72-82) 200 f.Kr.
(4) Bog drømmesyner (chaps. 83-90) 150 f.Kr.
(5) Bog Brev Enoch (chaps. 91-107) 0-170 BC
And such a division has been made (for) the spirits of the righteous, in which there is the bright spring of water. And such has been made for sinners when they die and are buried in the earth and judgment has not been executed on them in their lifetime. Here their spirits shall be set apart in this great pain till the great day of judgment and punishment and torment of those who curse for ever and retribution for their spirits. There He shall bind them for ever. And such a division has been made for the spirits of those who make their suit, who make disclosures concerning their destruction, when they were slain in the days of the sinners. Such has been made for the spirits of men who were not righteous but sinners, who were complete in transgression, and of the transgressors they shall be companions: but their spirits shall not be slain in the day of judgment nor shall they be raised from thence.' The I blessed the Lord of glory and said: 'Blessed be my Lord, the Lord of righteousness, who ruleth for ever.'
Rev 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Another example of internal contradiction is seen comparing chapters 10, 18, and 21. In chapter 21 the angels are said to be imprisoned for a concrete “ten thousand years” which is a very defined period of time. In chapter 18 we are told they will be imprisoned for “even for ten thousand years” which is a loose term that implies a very long time, even up to or past ten thousand years. But in Chapter 10 it says they will be imprisoned “for seventy generations” which is another loose term, an unspecified long time. However, even if a “generation” was counted to be 120 years, 70 generations would still only be 8400 years, not 10,000 years. Likely a “generation” is less than 120 years. So there is a contradiction between the time of the imprisonment of the angels in Chapter 10 of “70 generations” and the “ten thousand” or “even ten thousand” years told in Chapters 18 and 21. This might indicate that the sections of chapters 17-19 and 20-36 were penned by a the same author, and a different author than chapter 10, which is in the section of chapters 6-11.
[Chapter 10] And the Lord said unto Michael: 'Go, bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves 12 with them in all their uncleanness. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones, bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgment and of their consummation, till the judgment that is 13 for ever and ever is consummated.
[Chapter 18] The angel said: 'This place is the end of heaven and earth: this has become a prison for the stars and the host of heaven. And the stars which roll over the fire are they which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord in the beginning of 16 their rising, because they did not come forth at their appointed times. And He was wroth with them, and bound them till the time when their guilt should be consummated (even) for ten thousand years.'
[Chapter 21] 1,2 And I proceeded to where things were chaotic. And I saw there something horrible: I saw neither 3 a heaven above nor a firmly founded earth, but a place chaotic and horrible. And there I saw 4 seven stars of the heaven bound together in it, like great mountains and burning with fire. Then 5 I said: 'For what sin are they bound, and on what account have they been cast in hither?' Then said Uriel, one of the holy angels, who was with me, and was chief over them, and said: 'Enoch, why 6 dost thou ask, and why art thou eager for the truth? These are of the number of the stars of heaven, which have transgressed the commandment of the Lord, and are bound here till ten thousand years, 7 the time entailed by their sins, are consummated.' And from thence I went to another place, which was still more horrible than the former, and I saw a horrible thing: a great fire there which burnt and blazed, and the place was cleft as far as the abyss, being full of great descending columns of 8 fire: neither its extent or magnitude could I see, nor could I conjecture. Then I said: 'How 9 fearful is the place and how terrible to look upon!' Then Uriel answered me, one of the holy angels who was with me, and said unto me: 'Enoch, why hast thou such fear and affright?' And 10 I answered: 'Because of this fearful place, and because of the spectacle of the pain.' And he said unto me: 'This place is the prison of the angels, and here they will be imprisoned for ever.'
So far, contradictions with the Bible and with itself (which scripture does not so) has eliminated chapters 17-36 of the Book of the Watchers from being inspired scripture or acceptable as canon. This means that as a whole the book of the Watchers cannot be accepted, but as it shows evidence of being a composite work, we will examine the possibility that chapters 1-16 should not be disqualified also, and chapters 17-36 were a corruption added later.
Section 1) Chapters 1-5 a theophany followed by an eschatological admonition
Section 2) Chapters 6-11 the angel story (stories)
Section 3) Chapters 12-16 Enoch and the failed petition of the angels who descended
Section 4) Chapters 17-19 Enoch's first journey
Section 5) Chapters 20-36 Enoch's second journey
This leaves the first 3 sections of the Book of the Watchers. The quote from Jude is found in chapter 1, of the section of chapters 1-5. The information that seems needed to be in the Bible, but missing from the Bible, is found in chapters 6-11 which contains the story of the imprisonment of the “sons of God”, and chapters 12-16, which contains specific information on the origin of demons. This argument from seeming absence in the Bible on these topics is the only biblical argument to be made for why these sections of the book of the Watchers might be missing scripture, or why they should be accepted a canon.
However, if the Bible did contain all the needed information to make a clear argument as to the origin of demons, and the imprisonment of the fallen angels, then this argument from seeming absence would completely fall apart, and there would be no reason to consider these sections. Let's look at the information in chapters 12-16 first, on the origin of demons.
It is true that the Bible indicates that demons and fallen angels are different beings, and uses different terms to describe them, and describes them having different abilities. We can understand the “host of heaven” or all the type of angels were created with the heavens, on the first day, before the foundations of the earth were laid, as God “created the heavens” but before he created “and the earth”, Gen 1:1, as is seen by comparison with Job 38, and Gen 2:1-2. However, nothing in scripture indicates that the demons are the same as angels, and seem to be a different type of spirit. It would seem that their origin should be able to be derived solely from verses in the bible, and the time of their creation, as is the case with the angels, but this has seemed lacking.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Ordet her for "sjæl" er præciseret i Det Nye Testamente,
"Gen 2:21-22
Here the bible confirms that multiplication for all humanity was like that of Eve being multiplied from Adam. It also teaches that children come from their father, but through their mother. A child is a living soul, whose life itself, the spirit giving life, comes from the father, but the child is multiplied through the mother, to have a body. But the life itself, the spirit, is multiplied solely from the father of the child. Without the spirit, the child would not be a living soul. This is likely why the Bible seems to always refer to fathers begetting their children, as the life comes from the father.

Another confirmation that the spirit of the father of the child is multiplied into the spirit of the child may be seen in Malachi. Adam is referred to as having the “residue of the spirit”, not Eve.
“And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth.” Mal 2:15 KJV
So looking at Adam and Eve, how did multiplication work when they had children? The bible makes clear that the sinful spiritual nature resulting in death passed to all their children from Adam. This makes a clear case that all inherited spiritual death and sinfulness came from Adam, which makes sense if his spirit alone was multiplied and passed on to all their children.
1 Cor 15:21-22, 45 “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”
Romans 5 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned– for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. But the free gift is not like the transgression. For if by the transgression of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many. The gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned; for on the one hand the judgment arose from one transgression resulting in condemnation, but on the other hand the free gift arose from many transgressions resulting in justification. For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. For as through the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
That the sinful nature passed through the spirit of Adam as it was multiplied to all his children, makes clear that it is not only the spirit, but its attributes, such as sinfulness or mortality, which pass onto the child. The same may be seen in Ex, with the sins of the fathers alone being said to pass to the children, but as the Lord is said to do this visiting, it is uncertain. There is contrast to the sins of the mother, which the Bible implies are normally blotted out.
Ex 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me
Psa 109:14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
And again, Job seems to confirm that the breath of God gave him life, and it seems to make the most sense that Job was referring to himself also having the breath of life that God had once breathed into Adam, the same spirit, but that had been multiplied down through the generations to be Job's also. Thus, we all have the same spirit, breath of life, that God once breathed into Adam, and the sinful nature of spiritual death that Adam later acquired.
“The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.” Job 33:4
“All the while my breath [is] in me, and the spirit (ruach) of God [is] in my nostrils” Job 27:3
Besides normal human multiplication, there is another example which confirms this. Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God, and this is the same word “begat” that is used of human men begetting children. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, who is also God, which parallels that the breath of life comes from the spirit. And Jesus Christ spiritually is God and sinless, sharing in the spiritual attributes of God the Father. But, Jesus Christ is also eternal, and God, and himself being the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The Bible teaches he was both fully man and fully God. But Jesus Christ was also the son of Mary, a human woman, and Jesus Christ was also a human man.
1 Jn 5:1 “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten of Him.”
Luk 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Matt 1:2 “Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren.”
Col 2:9 “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
When it comes to the body of Jesus Christ…God the Father is spirit, and the Holy Spirit is spirit. As God the Father is a spirit, He does not have a body made of flesh and bones, by which Jesus could be half-God physically in His body. In fact Jesus Christ is the “image of the invisible God” (Col 1:15). And so it can be argued Jesus Christ is the only person of God with a physical body. Being eternal, Jesus is who He is in his body and always has been. Jesus Christ is God, and came from above, existing eternally, creating all things (Jn 8:23, 8:58, Jn 1). And the Bible teaches that in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead, but bodily. But it is made clear that Jesus partook as much as any man in flesh and blood. This means that Jesus had a body that was fully human, flesh and blood as much as any normal human man. And the Bible says that Jesus Christ came in the flesh (2 Jn 1:7) and was a man (1 Tim 2:5).
“God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.” Jn 4:24
“Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” Luke 24:39
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil” Heb 2:14
The doctrine that Jesus Christ was both fully God and fully man, is also called “Hypostatic Union”, and nothing here contradicts it. This theory agrees that Jesus was fully man and fully God. Just want to make that clear.

Adam – Fully Man | Jesus – Fully man and fully God |
Body's life from spirit, “breath of God” breathed into Adam | Body's life from spirit, “breath of God”, same thing as breathed into Adam, but given anew, second Adam. |
Human body, flesh and blood, made of dust by God | Human body, flesh and blood – genes from Mary, and eternal existence as He is, has, always will be, from the Father – image of God, fullness of Godhead bodily |
Living human soul (mind, will, emotions) – like God, in the image of God | Living human soul (mind, will emotions) |
human body, soul, spirit | human body, soul, spirit |
(+ now man can become born again Christian – Holy Spirit, spirit of God – God's adopted child – but we are not eternal and not God) | Born + Spirit of God – God's Son – eternal coming from above – He is also God |
** This theory describes Jesus as the second Adam, and our spirit giving life in our blood was multiplied from the breath of life God breathed into Adam, the spirit of life from God, which is all biblical. This theory probably could be considered a modified and more detailed form of “Traducianism”. Det er det. This theory is NOT promoting heresies like Apollinarism, Eutychianism, Nestorianism, Monophysitism, etc. and makes no alteration to the person of Jesus Christ.**
Putting together what the Bible teaches about human “multiplication”:
1. The spirit of the father is solely multiplied to give life to the child's body and make that child become a living soul.
2. The child's body is multiplied from both the mother and father, and they become a living soul (mind, will, emotions).
3. The spiritual attributes or nature of the father's spirit are carried in the multiplication of the spirit, passing to the child. Such as Adam's sinfulness and spiritual death to mankind, or God's sinlessness and eternal state to Jesus Christ (who was/is/will be eternal).
Now if we simply understand what the Bible teaches about multiplication and paternal spiritual lineage, and just look at Gen 6:1-4, much becomes apparent as obvious.
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also [is] flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.” Gen 6:1-4
Sinful angels were the fathers of these children. These sinful angels were immortal spirits, and so their children would all be immortal spirits. They were sinful, so their children would also be sinful and evil. The souls of these children would be of the same spirit, giving life, as their immortal sinful angel fathers. It so happens that the bible says the “sons of God” type of angel is the same as the messenger type of angel, who when physically manifested, look like human men. It seems the bodily multiplication, combining human women with angels who looked like human men, produced children who the Bible calls men. Their spirits were like those of fallen angels, but their bodies were that of mortal human men. However, the Bible records their human bodies had noticeable abnormalities.
After these “nephilim”, who had bodies of men, died, what would become of their spirits? It makes sense just from what we know about multiplication, that their spirits would remain active, immortal and evil, even lacking a physical body, just like their fallen angel fathers were active, immortal and evil, despite being spirits not having a physical body. Just looking at the passage, knowing what the Bible says about multiplication, it becomes obvious that these giant men would have immortal evil spirits, that would stay active apart from having a physical body. When we see demons later in the Bible, we can know this is their origin and when and how they came to be.

So the Bible does in fact give all the information needed to derive the origin of demons solely from the holy scriptures. Understanding multiplication and paternal spiritual lineage, it becomes obvious just looking at Gen 6:1-4 that this is where the demons came from. No extra-biblical source is needed to explain where demons came from, the Bible is sufficient to explain this.
Going back to the Book of the Watchers, the argument of absence, that the Bible seems to need the information in chapters 12-16, which tell of the origin of demons, has now completely fallen apart. The Bible is sufficient to explain the origin of demons on its own, and seems to be missing nothing that is needed. The Book of the Watchers chapters 12-16 section no longer carries the weight of there being any biblical argument of absence for it being inspired scripture or making it canon.
But let's take a look at what this section does say about the origin of demons. The main thing it says is that evil spirits have proceeded from the bodies of the giants, because the “holy” watchers is their primal origin. In other words, this passage also is saying that evil spirits came from the giants because their fathers were angels, and bottom line, their origin was solely their fathers. The same biblical understanding of paternal spiritual lineage is affirmed here. There is in fact no reason to reject the biblical model for explaining paternal spiritual lineage, as Enoch states the same explanation – however the biblical argument is in fact superior as there is much more in the bible to explain this out, an back this up, than here in Enoch, where the cause of paternal spiritual lineage is just stated as a fact. In any case, because paternal spiritual lineage can be derived solely from the Bible, there are no longer any grounds of absence in the Bible, by which to argue this section of the Book of the Watchers could be missing scripture.
Book of the Watchers [Chapter 15] 8 And now, the giants, who are produced from the spirits and flesh, shall be called evil spirits upon 9 the earth, and on the earth shall be their dwelling. Evil spirits have proceeded from their bodies; because they are born from men and from the holy Watchers is their beginning and primal origin; 10 they shall be evil spirits on earth, and evil spirits shall they be called. [As for the spirits of heaven, in heaven shall be their dwelling, but as for the spirits of the earth which were born upon the earth, on the earth shall be their dwelling.] And the spirits of the giants afflict, oppress, destroy, attack, do battle, and work destruction on the earth, and cause trouble: they take no food, but nevertheless 12 hunger and thirst, and cause offences. And these spirits shall rise up against the children of men and against the women, because they have proceeded from them. [Chapter 16]1 From the days of the slaughter and destruction and death of the giants, from the souls of whose flesh the spirits, having gone forth, shall destroy without incurring judgment -thus shall they destroy until the day of the consummation, the great judgment in which the age shall be 2 consummated, over the Watchers and the godless, yea, shall be wholly consummated.”
But, it may actually be somewhat useful to add weight to the Doctrine of Paternal Spiritual Lineage being introduced to you here for perhaps the first time, to note that in addition to what we've already shown the Bible teaches, it is interesting to note that the ancient Jewish authors – inspired or not – also saw this the same way. That is to say, the doctrine that angelic fathers produced what we know as demons was already understood by the author of this passage, but probably not a new inspired teaching introduced to all of Judaism by this passage in Enoch. It's possibly just the way they already viewed the origin of demons, solely from scripture, being mentioned in brief here.
However, there are a few things in the section of chapter 12-16 which seems to contradict the Holy Bible, and earlier portions of the Book of the Watchers.
In the Bible it is after Noah is 500 years old when God pronounces judgment against the earth, and decides to send the flood. In chapters 6-11 of the book of the Watchers, the same timing is seen, that God does not decide what to do and pronounce judgment till Noah's time. God does not decide to send a flood until Noah's time. But in the section of chapters 12-16, in chapters 12 and 13, God decides and pronounces judgment, and foretells the coming flood in chapter 16, to Enoch. If we assume this is while Enoch is still around, before him being taken by God,
1 En 12: 1-6 Before these things Enoch was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him. And his activities had to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones. And I Enoch was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages, and lo! the Watchers called me -Enoch the scribe- and said to me: 'Enoch, thou scribe of righteousness, go, declare to the Watchers of the heaven who have left the high heaven, the holy eternal place, and have defiled themselves with women, and have done as the children of earth do, and have taken unto themselves wives: “Ye have wrought great destruction on the earth: And ye shall have no peace nor forgiveness of sin: and inasmuch as they delight themselves in their children, The murder of their beloved ones shall they see, and over the destruction of their children shall they lament…13:1-2 And Enoch went and said: 'Azazel, thou shalt have no peace: a severe sentence has gone forth against thee to put thee in bonds:
1 En 16:1-2 From the days of the slaughter and destruction and death of the giants, from the souls of whose flesh the spirits, having gone forth, shall destroy without incurring judgement -thus shall they destroy until the day of the consummation, the great judgement in which the age shall be consummated, over the Watchers and the godless, yea, shall be wholly consummated.”
Then this is a major problem and contradiction with the Bible. In the Bible, God does not decide to send the flood until Noah is 500 years old. But here, God decides to send the flood when Enoch is still around. The Bible records that Enoch went to be with God 69 years before Noah was born. This makes there to be a 569 year difference between when the Bible says God decided to send the flood, and when this section of the Book of the Watchers says God decided to send the flood, telling Enoch about it. And this also contradicts the prior section of chapters 6-11 in which God also does not decide or pronounce judgment until Noah's time.

The only other option on how to look at this passage is to assume that it tells that Enoch came back to earth in Noah's time, after being taken by God to heaven 569 years prior. This has its own problems. The Bible records no such thing, and this contradicts what the Bible does say of Enoch, “that he was not, as God took him”. This both contradicts, and simply adds to what the Bible records and indicates – that Enoch was not around anymore after God took him.
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Gen 5:24
So either way, whether the passage is timed before Enoch was taken by God or after, it contradicts the Bible. If it was before Enoch was taken, it contradicts when the Bible says God decided and pronounced judgment, which was when Noah was 500, that being 569 years after Enoch was taken. If it was after Enoch was taken, then it contradicts that the Bible says “he was not for God took Him”, by having Enoch return to earth 569 years after he had been taken by God. In and of itself this contradiction with the Bible is enough to throw out Enoch chapters 12-16 as uninspired and not acceptable as canon. Besides contradicting, it also greatly adds to God's Word, which tells us “Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar” and “neither decline from the words of my mouth” (Prov 30:6, 4:5).
Gen 5:32, 6:7-14, 7:5-6 And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch…And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. And Noah [was] six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
But on top of this, there are further internal inconsistencies in the account. Even if chapters 12-16 tell that Enoch seems to have returned to Earth, 569 years after him being taken by God to heaven, then these chapters also are inconsistent. The passage starts out while Enoch was in heaven, and he is then sent back to earth to speak to the sinful watchers. After this, then surely he could and would return to heaven again. But these chapters indicate he could not simply return again in his body. The sinning watchers specifically ask Enoch to read a petition from them in the presence of the Lord, but instead of bodily returning to heaven to do so, Enoch falls asleep and has a vision of heaven. But if Enoch had the power to leave heaven and return to earth, why not simply go back to heaven bodily and read their petition, as they asked him to do, and return to earth yet again to give the answer them? The passage is internally inconsistent.
[Chapter 13] And they besought me to draw up a petition for them that they might find forgiveness, and to read their petition in the presence 5 of the Lord of heaven. For from thenceforward they could not speak (with Him) nor lift up their 6 eyes to heaven for shame of their sins for which they had been condemned. Then I wrote out their petition, and the prayer in regard to their spirits and their deeds individually and in regard to their 7 requests that they should have forgiveness and length.
Another problem is that Enoch goes to sit in the land of Dan, by the waters of Dan. This was in the predeluvian world, before the flood, and long before Dan had been born, or the tribe of Israel of Dan had been formed. This seems to date this book to have been written far later than Enoch, post-Israel, and not with the terms of predeluvian landmarkers one might expect if this story had actually been written by Enoch. How could Enoch go sit in the land of Dan, before there was a land of Dan? It seems unlikely the waters of Dan may even have existed before the flood, which radically changed the surface of the earth. And why would Enoch use post-Israel location terms?
[Chapter 13] And I went off and sat down at the waters of Dan, in the land of Dan, to the south of the west of Hermon: I read their petition till I fell 8 asleep. And behold a dream came to me, and visions fell down upon me, and I saw visions of chastisement, and a voice came bidding (me) I to tell it to the sons of heaven, and reprimand them.
At this point, all that seems to be left that does not have blatant contradictions with the Bible are the sections of chapters 1-5 and 6-11.
Section 1) Chapters 1-5 a theophany followed by an eschatological admonition
Section 2) Chapters 6-11 the angel story (stories)
Section 3) Chapters 12-16 Enoch and the failed petition of the angels who descended
Section 4) Chapters 17-19 Enoch's first journey
Section 5) Chapters 20-36 Enoch's second journey
The strongest biblical argument for section of chapters 6-11 is that it contains the story of how God imprisoned the “sons of God” in the Abyss, and the Bible seems to lack this information. The argument that this is missing inspired scripture is entirely based on the Bible's seeming glaring lack of telling the story of their imprisonment. And it is true that the Bible seems to be lacking on this story. The only clear scriptures on this event seem to be in 2 Peter, Jude, and Gen 6. 2 Peter makes clear that God did imprison these sinning angels, and Jude confirms this event took place. 2 Peter and Jude also seem to give a chronology that this happened at the time of the Flood.
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to Tartaros, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly, And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned [them] with an overthrow, making [them] an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly.” 2 Pet 2:4-6
“And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Jude 1:6-7
2 Peter and Jude both seem to point to the sin of these angels having been committed before the Flood, and Jude makes the comparison of the sin of these angels being “even as” the sin of Sodom, of “going after strange flesh” in “fornication”, so there is a large hint this sin was sexual. Following these clues, we would be looking for a sexual sin between angels and human that occurred before the Flood, and if we turn back to Genesis, this is precisely what we see mentioned in Genesis 6:1-4.
So we are clearly given information on when and how the fallen angels sinned, and told the fact that they were imprisoned for this sin, “cast down to Tartaros”, the place the Bible elsewhere calls the Abyss. 2 Peter and Jude indicate this sin took place before the Flood, and we look and find it in Genesis. But they also indicate this imprisonment took place at the time of the Flood. But if we read through the account of the Flood from Gen 6 – Gen 9, we find no mention of the event of the imprisonment. This is where the problem arises, as it seems the Bible is lacking in telling of the imprisonment itself. We don't see the story of the imprisonment of the fallen angels in Genesis, nor does it seem to be anywhere else in the Old Testament. It seems like this story of the imprisonment should be found in the scriptures somewhere, elsewise what are Peter and Jude referring to, and how do they know about it? As the Book of the Watchers contains the story of the imprisonment, and the Bible seems to lack it, the case then arises that Peter and Jude must have counted chapters 6-11 of the Book of the Watchers as scripture, which contains this story, and they must have been drawing from it as where they learned of the imprisonment of the sinning angels. This is the strongest and only biblical argument for accepting chapters 6-11 of the Book of the Watchers as inspired scripture, and it seems like a good argument. However, this entire argument completely falls apart if in fact the Bible does contain passages that tell the story of the imprisonment of the sinning angels of Genesis 6, as if the Bible does, then Peter and Jude would more likely have been drawing from the Holy Scriptures, and not the book of the Watchers.
So again, we are now going to present to you some new research. This new research shows that the Old Testament of the Bible does tell the story of the imprisonment of the sinning angels of Genesis 6, giving some specific detail about how and when their imprisonment took place.
To understand how the Bible tells of the imprisonment, let's start with something comparable, that you probably are familiar with. Many Christians are familiar with Eze 28 and Isa 14, which are 2 passages of prophecy, one against the King of Tyre and the other against the king of Babylon. Yet, these passages of prophecy also seem to be directed to Satan at the same time. These are key passages by which many Christians gather information about Satan, as they seem to tell the story of how Satan was in Eden, and of his fall, and of him eventually being consumed by fire. These passages precedent that the Bible may tell history or future prophecy of fallen angels, contained within prophecy directed at a human man.
About Satan:
Eze 28:12-19 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone [was] thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou [art] the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee [so]: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou [wast] perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt] thou [be] any more.
Isa 14:4-17 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased! The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, [and] the sceptre of the rulers. He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, [and] none hindereth. The whole earth is at rest, [and] is quiet: they break forth into singing. Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, [and] the cedars of Lebanon, [saying], Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us. Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet [thee] at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, [even] all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations. All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, [and] the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, [and] consider thee, [saying, Is] this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; [That] made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; [that] opened not the house of his prisoners?
Something very similar is found in Ezekiel 31 and 32. Ezekiel 31 is directed at “Pharaoh king of Egypt and his multitudes” and also Ezekiel 32 is simply directed at the “multitudes of Egypt”. But it also makes sense that these passages are about the “sons of God” of Genesis 6, telling the story of them before the flood, of them being imprisoned, and of the death of the nephilim.
Eze 31:2-18 “Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness? Behold, the Assyrian [was] a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs. The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth. All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters. The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that [were] in the garden of God, envied him. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness. And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him. Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the Abyss. Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him. I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the Abyss: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth. They also went down into hell with him unto [them that be] slain with the sword; and [they that were] his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword. This [is] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.”
Eze 32:18-32 “Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, [even] her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit. Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised. They shall fall in the midst of [them that are] slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes. The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. Asshur [is] there and all her company: his graves [are] about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword: Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living. There [is] Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit. They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of [them that be] slain. There [is] Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living. And they shall not lie with the mighty [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty in the land of the living. Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with [them that are] slain with the sword. There [is] Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by [them that were] slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit. There [be] the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit. Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, [even] Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD. For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that are] slain with the sword, [even] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.”
There is more to this new research than can be covered here today, but to see this new research explained more thoroughly, you can read about 30 pages of scripture study cross-referencing prophecy terminology at ParadoxBrown.com, Read the more Detailed Studies: – Satan – Demons and Nephilim – The First Wave of Fallen Angels – A Survey of the Abyss in the Old and New Testaments – The Non-Interchangeability of the Terms “Rephaim” and “Nephilim”
From this work, we can know that the “pit” mentioned in Ezekiel is the same as the “Abyss”, and that in fact the Old Testament references to this place as “Destruction” many times, and the New Testament refers to it as where the sinning angels were “cast down to Tartaros”. This is also the same place mentioned in Revelation 9 as the prison of the Abyss, where “locusts” are released – this is likely the release of the imprisoned angels of Genesis 6. And among them is the angel of the Abyss, names Abaddon in Hebrew, whose name means “destruction”, and “Destruction” is one name for the Abyss used in the Old Testament, showing this angel comes out of the Abyss also. This angel king seems to have a unique status apart from the other sinful angels that are released in Rev 9, being described as a king.
The Abyss
– “abyssos” Abyss (12) Lk 8:31; Rev 9:1,2,11,11:7,17:8, 20:1-3; Rom 10:7
– “phrear” pit (5421) Rev 9:1,2
– “tartaroo” cast down to Tartaros (5020 verb) 2 Pet 2:4
– “phylake” prison (5438) 1 Pet 3:19, Rev 20
– “bowr” pit (953) Isa 14:15,19,24:21-23,38:18; Eze 31:3-16, 32:18,23-25,29-30,26:19-20; Ps 88:4-12,143:3-7; Prov 1:12
– “Abaddown” Destruction / Abaddon (11) Ps 88:4-12; Job 26:5-6,28:20-24, 31:9-12; Prov 15:11, 27:20
– “pachath” pit (6354) Isa 24:18
From all this we can gather that the sinning angel of Genesis 6 seem to have had a leader of more prominence among them. In Ezekiel 31 this fallen angel is compared to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, while all the other sinning angels are grouped together, and compared to the multitudes of Egypt under Pharaoh. He is compared to one tree, called the Assyrian, and the rest of the sinning angels of Genesis 6 are compared to be other trees, and his branches are the nephilim his children. God asks who Pharaoh is like, and then tells of someone he is like, giving a true comparison, telling a real story.

Trees = gods The Tree of Life: An Archeological Study by EO James, pgs. 4, 34, 42…
angels = gods, sons of God
Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Psa 82:1, 6-7 [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. I have said, Ye [are] gods; and all of you [are] children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
mighty = nephilim
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare [children] to them, the same [became] mighty men which [were] of old, men of renown.
A key piece in reading this passage of prophecy is to understand that in ancient times trees were often worshipped as “gods”, and so the trees in this passage symbolize “gods”. (The Tree of Life: An Archeological Study by EO James, pgs. 4, 34, 42…) In the Old Testament, the angels are sometimes called “gods” (Psalm 82) and also the sinning angels of Genesis 6 were called “sons of God”. It is also true that the “mighty” mentioned here is the same word used in reference to the nephilim, as “mighty men of old”, so in prophetic symbolism, the nephilim are referenced. So, let's read through the passages, comparing the words of prophetic symbolism, with their meaning.
Eze 31:2-18 “Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude; Whom art thou like in thy greatness? Behold, the Assyrian [was] a cedar in Lebanon (Abaddon, leader of the Gen 6 sinning angels) with fair branches (fair wives), and with a shadowing shroud, and of an high stature (as a whole, his literal children the nephilim, were known for tall height); and his top was among the thick boughs (the nephilim)…
Here we see that this tree, and all that composed him, was known for his great height. As a “son of God” Abaddon also had children, nephilim, who were very tall, and they are counted in the symbolism of what Abaddon as a tall tree. His wives seem to be called “fair branches”, similar to how the “daughters of men were fair”. His children the nephilim are compared to be the thick foliage and leaves on high boughs that cast a shadow in their height. Altogether, the idea is of a kingdom ruled by Abaddon, and under him, his many wives and his children the nephilim, and as a whole this kingdom of Abaddon had the attribute of great height.
Eze 31 …“The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field. (where the 4 rivers split) Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field (other “sons of God” of Gen 6), and his boughs were multiplied (many nephilim children), and his branches became long (continually growing number of wives) because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth (his location produced success, many wives, large family).
Next we see a location seems to be given for this kingdom, in that it was by many waters. The picture described is Abaddon had a thriving kingdom, of his nephilim children, in large part to his location near the rivers. History has shown that cities built near rivers have many advantages, such as fishing, agriculture through irrigation, and of course water supply. The kingdom of Abaddon and his nephilim children seemed to have thrived due to location, and been exalted over the other “trees of the field” which were the other sinning “sons of God” angels of Genesis 6. Abaddon's nephilim family or tribe seems to have overshadowed the nephilim families of all the other “sons of God”. Probably each “son of God” who had a family formed a nation or tribe, and Abaddon's surpassed theirs in power. The branches or boughs of Abaddon, his nephilim descendents, seem to be described to have owned much livestock, perhaps having a monopoly.
Comparing this to Genesis, the location would seem to be the same as where the 4 rivers were, that parted from the river coming out of Eden. The location is also said to be Lebanon, which is the same general location as the northern area of Israel. This is in keeping with modern research on these rivers, that indicate the garden of Eden was originally located in what is now Israel.
Gen 2:10-14 And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold; And the gold of that land [is] good: there [is] bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river [is] Gihon: the same [is] it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river [is] Euphrates.
Eze 31 …“All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations. (His tribe owned much livestock) Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters. (His success due to location made his family large, rich, powerful)”…
Eze 31 …The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees (other sinning angels, ones with thick foliage) were not like his boughs (his multitude of nephilim children), and the chesnut trees (other sinning angels, with long branches) were not like his branches (his continually growing number of wives); nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches (his many wives): so that all the trees of Eden, that [were] in the garden of God, envied him. (All the other “sons of God” of Genesis 6 envied Abaddon for his success and for having such a large family)…

The other “sons of God” sinning angels did not compare with his success, they also had wives and nephilim children, but Abaddon had more wives, more children, much more success, and the other “sons of God” envied him. In this part we see confirmation that this passage speaks of events that took place in or around Eden, the garden of God, and so we know this describes events before the Flood, when Eden was still around, as these angels are said to have been in Eden at times.
The next section describes that God decides to destroy Abaddon and his kingdom, all his nephilim children because of their pride, and wickedness. Some of the passage is more ambiguous as to it's meaning, but generally destruction is clear, and by the method of water. In a minute we will see that it is the Flood being referenced here.
Eze 31 …Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height; I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness. And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen (his wives are killed), and his boughs are broken (his children are killed) by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him. Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches: (destruction of his family, kingdom, drowning animals)…
Eze 31 …To the end that none of all the trees (so that none of ALL the “sons of God”) by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs (have a nephilim family kingdom), neither their trees (other “sons of God”) stand up in their height (become powerful, pride), all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death (all the “sons of God” and their families are killed), to the nether parts of the earth (lowest parts of the earth), in the midst of the children of men (dying people), with them that go down to the Abyss (the prison)…
Then the passage indicates that everyone is killed, all the people, all the nephilim are killed, and Abaddon and the other “sons of God” are sent down to the Abyss, amidst dying people. This already hints at the Flood. Also note that the point of God imprisoning the “sons of God” is so that none of them can replace Abaddon, in having a ruling family kingdom, and sin in pride, and so that none of them can have nephilim children. This seems to not just speak to all the “sons of God” which were imprisoned, who already had sinned in having children, but also seems to speak to any other angels that might think of doing as they had done. The point of the imprisonment is not only punishment, but also is specified have the purpose of being preventative, “to the end that none of all the trees shoot up their top among the thick boughs” ie have children, this was done to keep ALL the other angels from sinning in the same way, in having nephilim children.
Eze 31 Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave (Sheol) I caused a mourning: I covered the deep (deep waters) for him, and I restrained the floods thereof (150th day of the Flood of Noah), and the great waters were stayed:
The next part seems to give more specific detail on the destruction of Abaddon, the other sons of God, and their nephilim families. First off, here the flood is specifically mentioned. Also it specifies that the day they went down to the Abyss was the same day that God restrained the Flood waters. Comparing this to Genesis, we can know that the “sons of God” were sent down to the Abyss and imprisoned there, on the 150th day of the Flood, which was when God restrained the floodwaters of the deep.
Gen 7:11,24,8:1-2 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened… And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days… And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that [was] with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained
For those who aren't aware, the Flood lasted about 370 days, not 40 days, according to the detailed Genesis account. The earth's highest places were covered after 40 days, but the rain itself did not stop until the 150th day, at which time the water reached its peak height.
Based off details at: http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2010/08/23/overview-flood-timeline
By the 150th day the cataclysmic changes to the earth caused by fountains of the deep bursting open had caused valleys to sink down and the mountains to rise up, and the Ark rested on the side of the newly formed Mt. Ararat. It was at this time that the “sons of God” were imprisoned inside the earth, in the Abyss. As the earth was covered in deep floodwaters at the time, what would seem to make the most sense is they were swallowed down into the earth in a large whirlpool, into a subterranean chamber that had formerly held water of the fountains of the deep.

When God restrained the fountains of the deep, and the waters began receding, it seems most likely they seem to have gotten sucked down and imprisoned in a hollow air pocket surrounded and buried by earth and then this was covered by oceans, which cover the lowest depths of the earth.
All of the other angels are described to have fainted when God imprisoned Abaddon and the other sinning “sons of God”.
Eze 31 … and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees (all the other angels) of the field fainted for him. I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the Abyss: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth (all the “sons of God” imprisoned in the Abyss in the earth). They also went down into hell (Sheol) with him unto [them that be] slain with the sword; and [they that were] his arm, [that] dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. (all the nephilim and other mortal people under Abaddon's kingdom – everyone – went down also) To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword. This [is] Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.”
Besides them being imprisoned in the Abyss, this passage seems to describe that everyone, all people under his shadow or kingdom, also went down into the earth to “Sheol”, along with the “sons of God” as they were imprisoned in the “Abyss”. The Old Testament indicates that Sheol and the Abyss are tied together in location, so it seems that Sheol may be a mass graveyard inside the earth, that is the earth which surrounds the Abyss where the “sons of God” are imprisoned.
Altogether, it seems likely that during the 40 days of rain, the rivers that had made Abaddon's family successful started to flood. All of the people fled the rising waters of the 4 rivers area, or were drowned, including Abaddon's wives and some of his nephilim children. It would make sense that as the waters continued to rise, Abaddon and the other “sons of God” and their nephilim children, and other men and women, probably tried to stay afloat. While they did not have an ark, it seems likely they might have had boats or made makeshift rafts, and that they probably tried to band together. While some drowned, some did not. And so after 150 days of flooding, when God restrained the fountains of the deep, both the “sons of God” and whatever nephilim or other men were remaining, probably all in the same location together on rafts. It seems most likely as the earth was covered in deep water at the time, that they were all sucked down in a whirlpool, and buried down inside the earth together.
The nephilim and other men, having mortal bodies, died in the process, and their dead bodies formed the mass graveyard of Sheol. But near this, or surrounded by this mass graveyard of Sheol, was apparently the hollow pocket of a subterranean chamber, where the “sons of God” were imprisoned, called the Abyss.
Psalm 29 [[A Psalm of David.]] Give unto the LORD, O ye sons of God, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. The voice of the LORD [is] upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD [is] upon many waters. The voice of the LORD [is] powerful; the voice of the LORD [is] full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon. He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD *divideth the flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple doth every one speak of [his] glory. The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.
* Hbr 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
It is interesting that many of the same elements of this story in Ezekiel 31 are also seen represented in Psalm 29, which mentions together the elements of the “sons of God”, many waters, the flood, the Lord breaking the cedars of Lebanon, and how the Lord is King forever. The flames of fire, referenced in Hebrews as angels, are said to be divided by God, perhaps like how some were divided to below the earth in the Abyss, away from the others in heaven or on earth. Additionally, it says that God makes the cedars of Lebanon to skip like calves or young oxen – both four legged creatures much like horses, similar to the horse-like locusts of Revelation 9.
Eze 32:18-32 “Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, [even] her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the Abyss. Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised. They shall fall in the midst of [them that are] slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes. The strong among the mighty (nephilim) shall speak to him out of the midst of Sheol with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword. Asshur [is] there and all her company: his graves [are] about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword: Whose graves are set in the sides of the Abyss, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living. There [is] Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the Abyss…
In a continuation, that the nephilim were buried in Sheol, near the Abyss, seems to be confirmed in more detail in Ezekiel 32. The multitudes of Egypt seem to parallel with both the nephilim, and their mothers, and all the people who were seen as being under the shadow of Abaddon's kingdom in the prior chapter, ie pretty much all the pre-Flood people. The word “mighty” here is the same used in “mighty men of renown” referring to the nephilim in Genesis 6. The pit is the Abyss, and the grave is Sheol. The scene here is that the nephilim were sent down along with the fallen angels sent down to the Abyss, and the graveyard of the nephilim's bodies is down inside the earth, called Sheol. The graves of the nephilim seem to line the sides of the Abyss, showing Sheol and the Abyss are in the same location, and that the “sons of God” and the nephilim were sent down together. The passage also identifies the nephilim caused terror while they were alive, with their swords and weapons of war, which they were buried with, in Sheol, lining the Abyss.
Eze 32 …They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the Abyss: he is put in the midst of [them that be] slain. There [is] Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves [are] round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living. And they shall not lie with the mighty (nephilim) [that are] fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to Sheol with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though [they were] the terror of the mighty (nephilim) in the land of the living. Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with [them that are] slain with the sword. There [is] Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by [them that were] slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the Abyss. There [be] the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the Abyss.
Again, you can read a more detailed analysis of these passages, and other passages on the Abyss and Sheol, at Paradoxbrown.com. But in summary, the Bible does seem to tell the story of the imprisonment of the “sons of God” in much detail, including how and when they were imprisoned in the Abyss during the flood.

It is interesting that they were imprisoned 150 days into the flood, as when they seem to be released from the prison of the Abyss in Rev 9, it is during the 5th trumpet which also lasts 150 days.
Some additional information about the predeluvian world can also be derived from these passages, such as the nephilim carried weaponry and practiced warfare. But most emphasis is on Abaddon, the Assyrian, who was essentially a king who ruled over the predeluvian world, having a larger nephilim family, better land, more wealth, and more power than the other “sons of God” or their nephilim families. He was essentially the first king and world ruler, in the time before the Flood.
So the Bible does in fact give all the information needed to derive the story of the imprisonment of the sinning angels of Genesis 6 solely from the holy scriptures. Understanding the symbolism used in Ezekiel 31 and 32, it becomes obvious that they tells the story of the imprisonment of these sinning angels. No extra-biblical source is needed to explain how and when these sinning angels were imprisoned, as the Bible is sufficient to explain this.

Realizing again that this is probably a very new vein of research to most watching this video, we realize that it may seem hard to accept at first that THIS MUCH of the story of the fallen angels' imprisonment actually IS told in detail in scripture, where before most would have argued that it was completely absent. But just to reiterate, it is already commonly accepted by most Christians that the Old Testament passages we've mentioned from Isaiah and Ezekiel, while referencing and addressed to historical human men, also tell the story of the fall of Satan.
In the same way, we're presenting that Ezekiel also tells the story of God's judgment against another fallen angel. Ezekiel 28 addresses the prince of Tyre by comparing him to and referencing the details of Satan's fall; Ezekiel 31 and 32 address the Egyptian Pharaoh and his multitudes by comparing them to and referencing the details of Abaddon's judgment, and the judgment of all of the angels who sinned against God in Genesis 6. This is not to suggest that any other interpretations of Ezekiel 31 and 32 are incorrect, just simply that there is precedent in scripture – just a few chapters earlier in the same book in fact! – that by the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit, God providentially allows two stories to be told at once by the prophet Ezekiel.
It's poetic in fact, and gives us a hint of what could possibly be called “God's writing style” to see God addressing these different men, by telling us all the story of these fallen angels. In fact it could be said that the story of Abaddon being detailed in Ez 31-2, serves as a second witness that Ez 28 and Is 14 are in fact speaking of Satan, because nowhere else in scripture is this method thought to be used, unless the idea that Ez 31-2 are also about a fallen angel is considered.
As said this may seem new to you, but if you have already accepted the concept that these other Old Testament passages detail the story of Satan while addressing a man, then you should have no trouble at all accepting that the story of Abaddon and the other wicked angels from Genesis 6 is likewise being told as Ezekiel address Pharaoh and his multitudes.
Going back to the Book of the Watchers, the argument of absence, that the Bible seems to need the information in chapters 6-11, which tell of the imprisonment of the sinning angels, has now completely fallen apart. The Bible is sufficient to explain the imprisonment of the sinning angels on its own, and seems to be missing nothing that is needed. The Book of the Watchers chapters 6-11 section no longer carries the weight of there being any biblical argument of absence for it being inspired scripture or making it canon.
The key verses of chapters 6-11 actually parallel some of the same elements as Ezekiel 31 and 32. Semjaza is mentioned as a leader, whereas the Bible identifies the leader to be called the Assyrian, which revelation calls Abaddon or Apollyon. Ezekiel mentions the nephilim practiced warfare, and this indicates the same, though Ezekiel does not mention specifically that they killed each other. Ezekiel also indicates the “sons of God” were not imprisoned till they had seen the death of many of their loved ones, and this indicates the same.
1 En 10:11-13 – 200 BC 'Go, bind Semjaza and his associates who have united themselves with women so as to have defiled themselves with them in all their uncleanness. And when their sons have slain one another, and they have seen the destruction of their beloved ones…
But whereas the book of the Watchers gives no additional information on the release of the imprisoned angels, leaving the time vague, the Bible indicates this happens in Revelation 9 in the 5th trumpet. And whereas the Book of the Watchers is completely vague as to precisely how and when the fallen angels were imprisoned, the Bible in Ezekiel gives a precise picture as to how they were swallowed up into the earth, precisely 150 days into the Flood, while the earth was covered by water. In fact, the Bible gives more precise information on the imprisonment than does the book of the Watchers, making it a superior account.
1 Enoch 10:11-13 …bind them fast for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, till the day of their judgment and of their consummation, till the judgment that is for ever and ever is consummated.
Rev 9:1-3, 11 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power… And they had a king among them, the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue [is] Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath [his] name Apollyon.
Also, Ezekiel was written from 593-571 BC, whereas the book of the Watchers only dates to 200 BC at the earliest, so Ezekiel predated it by over 350 years. It is quite possible that the book of the Watchers itself was a derivative work, that's contents were based off of Ezekiel 31 and 32, elaborating and adding to the information found in Ezekiel.
In any case, because the details of the imprisonment of the sinning angels can be derived solely from the Bible, there are no longer any grounds of absence in the Bible, by which to argue this section of the Book of the Watchers could be missing scripture. However, there are a few things in the section of chapters 6-11 which seems to contradict the Holy Bible, or make no sense.
The first problem is that chapter 10 says the nephilim each lived 500 years. If we were to look in the Bible for an answer to the question “how long did the nephilim live?” the Bible does seem to give a clear answer. In Genesis 6:1-4, right after the “sons of God” took wives, and right before they had children, God speaks. In context, God was most likely speaking to the parents of the nephilim, and God telling them that their kids will only live 120 years. While everyone around was living 850 years on average, the nephilim were only going to live 120 years, and besides this they had gigantism. As such, the bible says the nephilim would only live 120 years, whereas the section of chapters 6-11 of the book of the Watchers says that the nephilim would live 500 years. This means that this section directly contradicts the Holy Bible, and as such is not inspired scripture, and unacceptable as canon.
1 En 10:10 for length of days shall they not have. And no request that they (ie their fathers) make of thee shall be granted unto their fathers on their behalf; for they hope to live an eternal life, and 11 that each one of them will live five hundred years.'
To give brief further explanation on the nephilim, they had human bodies, as they Bible calls them “men”, which must be true, and this must refer to them having human bodies of men. They had spirits of fallen angels, so they were not men in spirit, but they had the bodies of human men, and this is how the bible calls them “men” in truth, in that their bodies were that of men. However, they had a couple abnormalities, the first was they only would live 120 years, and the second was gigantism. That a dominant human gene for a shortened lifespan of 120 years, and a more recessive acting human gene for gigantism must have been spread, and carried by a woman on the ark, is obvious by the fact that these human genes soon showed up after the flood, and we still have them today. You can read more detailed studies on Nephilim here.

Another final problem with the book of the Watchers is that it says the nephilim were 3000 ells in height. This is about 4,500 feet in height. The tallest dinosaur, Sauroposeidon, of the brachiosaurus family, was only about 60 ft. tall. That would make the nephilim 75 times taller than the tallest dinosaur.
To put this in perspective for you, that is a 1 to 750 scale between a 6ft. man, and a nephilim. That equates out to a normal sized man being 2.5 millimeters tall, compared to a nephilim if he was counted as being 6ft tall. That's half of the width of the eraser on the end of a pencil. We aren't in Gulliver's travels territory with this. More like Honey I shrunk the kids territory with this, or even Ant Man from Marvel comics.

According to science, there is an upper limit on the size any human being, or any creature, can attain, based on Galileo's square-cube law, which states that when an object is scaled larger, while area is squared, volume is cubed. This has serious implications for biological life that is enlarged far beyond a size it was designed by God to reach, setting a ceiling, past which a creature would be unable to move, breathe, walk, or even live. It's estimated that a man even 60 ft. tall would have his leg bones break from his own weight if he even took a step. The height of the nephilim being 4500 ft is not only ridiculously inconceivable, but also contradicts the physics of biology so as to make it impossible.
“Let us take the most obvious of possible cases, and consider a giant man sixty feet high – about the height of Giant Pope and Giant Pagan in the illustrated Pilgrim's progress of my childhood. These monsters were not only ten times as high as Christian, but ten times as wide and ten times as thick, so that their total weight was a thousand times his, or about eighty to ninety tons. Unfortunately the cross sections of their bones were only a hundred times those of Christian, so that every square inch of giant bone had to support ten times the weight borne by a square inch of human bone. As the human thigh-bone breaks under about ten times the human weight, Pope and Pagan would have broken their thighs every time they took a step.” – On Being the Right Size by JBS Haldane, MA Geneticist
The Bible records the tallest giant Rephaim, a human giant named Og, after the flood to have perhaps been 13.5 feet in height, based on the size of his bed. The tallest man in recent history, Robert Wadlow, had a verified height of 8' 11”.
Deu 3:11 “Only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaites. His bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide. It is still in Rabbah of the Ammonites.”
“Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940) was the tallest person in history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. Wadlow is sometimes known as the Alton Giant or Giant of Illinois because he was born and grew up in Alton, Illinois. Wadlow reached 8 ft 11.1 in (2.720 m) in height and weighed 439 lb (199 kg) at his death at age 22.” – Wikipedia
I did some loose figures based on the square-cube law, drawing from similar calculations at the links below. Using their calculations, apparently human bones break at a factor of 4. As such a man who was 24 ft. tall would likely have his bones break from his own weight if he tried to walk. Even at 18 ft. in height a simple fall could easily prove fatal. Most likely a giant would die in the process of growing to the 18 ft. height. For a giant human to actually participate in any semblance of normal activities, without injuring themselves, they would probably need to not be taller than 12-15 ft. This is in keeping with the tallest height indicated for a giant in the Bible, of 13.5 ft.

As such, chapters 6-11 of the book of the Watchers contradicts the Bible as to how long the nephilim lived, and all realm of conceivable scientific possibility as to the height of the nephilim. It is not inspired scripture, nor should be accepted as canon. This leaves the first section, of chapters 1-5, in which the quote from Jude is found.
The Book of the Watchers
Section 1) Chapters 1-5 a theophany followed by an eschatological admonition Section 2) Chapters 6-11 the angel story (stories) Section 3) Chapters 12-16 Enoch and the failed petition of the angels who descended Section 4) Chapters 17-19 Enoch's first journey Section 5) Chapters 20-36 Enoch's second journey
Let's compare the verse in Jude to the book of the Watchers, in both the Charles and Laurence versions. In the Holy Bible it says that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied and said this.
Jude 1:14-15 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
1 En 1:9 And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones, To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh, Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. (Charles)
1 En 2:1 Behold, he comes with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon them, and destroy the wicked, and reprove all the carnal for everything which the sinful and ungodly have done, and committed against him. (Ethiopic, Laurence)
Scrutinizing chapters 1-5 I could find nothing that seems to contradict the Bible, and in fact it all seems to line up well with Biblical truth. Which brings to mind the question as to whether this is inspired scripture or not. The big problem with that is that the Bible says Enoch seventh from Adam prophesied, saying a verse of this, yet this portion of the book of Watchers only dates to 200 BC, whereas Enoch “was not for God took him” around 3000 BC at the latest.
On the other hand, if Jude was incorrect that Enoch prophesied saying this verse, then there would be a much bigger problem, if Jude has been accepted as Holy Scripture yet had something inaccurate in it. I believe the solution to this conundrum is actually to be found in the first verses of the text itself.
1The word of the blessing of Enoch, how he blessed the elect and the righteous, who were to exist in the time of trouble; rejecting all the wicked and ungodly. Enoch, a righteous man, who was with God, answered and spoke, while his eyes were open, and he saw a holy vision in the heavens. This the angels showed me. 2 From them I heard all things, and understood what I saw ; that which will not take place in this generation, but in a generation which is to succeed at a distant period, on account of the elect. 3 Upon their account I spoke and conversed with him, who will go forth from his habitation, the Holy and Mighty One, the God of the world: 4Who will hereafter tread upon Mount Sinai; appear with his hosts; and be manifested in the strength of his power from heaven.
1 The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be 2 living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said -Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is 3 for to come. Concerning the elect I said, and took up my parable concerning them: The Holy Great One will come forth from His dwelling, 4 And the eternal God will tread upon the earth, (even) on Mount Sinai, And appear in the strength of His might from the heaven of heavens.
The opening verses in fact do not say that Enoch wrote this. Rather, they seem to imply that some unknown prophet, the author, had holy angels show him a Vision. And in that Vision the author saw and heard Enoch prophesying. There is some variance in the translation, but it seems possible the author saw a Vision of Enoch in heaven, prophesying. So what we have here, is around 200 BC holy angels gave the author a Vision of Enoch prophesying, and the author wrote down the words he heard Enoch say, in the Vision that the holy angels gave him. This explains how these are the words of Enoch, in truth as the Bible says, yet this was written around 200 BC. (Add or saw Vision of him in the past, being shown by the angel Enoch on earth prophesying, before he was taken by God.)
Of course, Jude only verifies for us one verse out of this text, but as this is all one section, and none of it seems to contradict the Bible but be in keeping with it, this may all be the reliable words of Enoch. However, the text was not written by Enoch, nor does it claim to be written by Enoch. The author is an unknown prophet, who lived around 200 BC, and who knew this message was not for his generation, but for a distant one, probably our generation, in the end times. This section of chapters 1-5 could maybe be accepted as inspired scripture, at the least, some of it is a prophetic word for our generation from the prophet Enoch, as verified by Jude. But whether these 5 chapters are ever added to canon, there is nothing preventing you from reading them and heeding this word from Enoch, as a prophetic word meant for our generation.
The Book of the Watchers, Chapters 1-5
“The words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said–Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come. Concerning the elect I said, and took up my parable concerning them: The Holy Great One will come forth from His dwelling, And the eternal God will tread upon the earth, (even) on Mount Sinai, And appear from His camp And appear in the strength of His might from the heaven of heavens. And all shall be smitten with fear And the Watchers shall quake, And great fear and trembling shall seize them unto the ends of the earth. And the high mountains shall be shaken, And the high hills shall be made low, And shall melt like wax before the flame And the earth shall be wholly rent in sunder, And all that is upon the earth shall perish, And there shall be a judgement upon all (men). But with the righteous He will make peace. And will protect the elect, And mercy shall be upon them. And they shall all belong to God, And they shall be prospered, And they shall all be blessed. And He will help them all, And light shall appear unto them, And He will make peace with them. And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him. Observe ye everything that takes place in the heaven, how they do not change their orbits, and the luminaries which are in the heaven, how they all rise and set in order each in its season, and transgress not against their appointed order. Behold ye the earth, and give heed to the things which take place upon it from first to last, how steadfast they are, how none of the things upon earth change, but all the works of God appear to you. Behold the summer and the winter, how the whole earth is filled with water, and clouds and dew and rain lie upon it. Observe and see how (in the winter) all the trees seem as though they had withered and shed all their leaves, except fourteen trees, which do not lose their foliage but retain the old foliage from two to three years till the new comes. And again, observe ye the days of summer how the sun is above the earth over against it. And you seek shade and shelter by reason of the heat of the sun, and the earth also burns with growing heat, and so you cannot tread on the earth, or on a rock by reason of its heat. Observe ye how the trees cover themselves with green leaves and bear fruit: wherefore give ye heed and know with regard to all His works, and recognize how He that liveth for ever hath made them so. And all His works go on thus from year to year for ever, and all the tasks which they accomplish for Him, and their tasks change not, but according as God hath ordained so is it done. And behold how the sea and the rivers in like manner accomplish and change not their tasks from His commandments. But ye–ye have not been steadfast, nor done the commandments of the Lord, But ye have turned away and spoken proud and hard words With your impure mouths against His greatness. Oh, ye hard-hearted, ye shall find no peace. Therefore shall ye execrate your days, And the years of your life shall perish, And the years of your destruction shall be multiplied in eternal execration, And ye shall find no mercy. In those days ye shall make your names an eternal execration unto all the righteous, And by you shall all who curse, curse, And all the sinners and godless shall imprecate by you, And for you the godless there shall be a curse. And all the . . . shall rejoice, And there shall be forgiveness of sins, And every mercy and peace and forbearance: There shall be salvation unto them, a goodly light. And for all of you sinners there shall be no salvation, But on you all shall abide a curse. But for the elect there shall be light and joy and peace, And they shall inherit the earth. And then there shall be bestowed upon the elect wisdom, And they shall all live and never again sin, Either through ungodliness or through pride: But they who are wise shall be humble. And they shall not again transgress, Nor shall they sin all the days of their life, Nor shall they die of (the divine) anger or wrath, But they shall complete the number of the days of their life. And their lives shall be increased in peace, And the years of their joy shall be multiplied, In eternal gladness and peace, All the days of their life.”
As for chapters 1-5 being accepted as canon, if you want to pursue getting this added to the Bible, go right ahead, if you think it's worth your time to try, though I doubt it's going to happen. However as we have already covered, chapters 6-36 should not be accepted as inspired scripture nor added to canon. Just because an external work was quoted in the Bible does not mean it is inspired scripture, does not mean it is meant to be part of canon. Being quoted in the Bible means that quote is true, taken in context, but this does not mean the entire text that was quoted from is able to be accepted as inspired scripture, and true, as we have seen is the case with First Enoch.
For instance Paul quotes a couple Greek poets in Acts. That these quotes are in the Bible shows they are valid in context, however we would not dream of trying to use these quotes to verify the rest of their writings, that teach Zeus is the true god, we are indebted to him, and he lives forever.
Act 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, “For we are also his offspring.”
“Let us begin with Zeus, whom we mortals never leave unspoken. For every street, every market-place is full of Zeus. Even the sea and the harbour are full of this deity. Everywhere everyone is indebted to Zeus. For we are indeed his offspring… – Phaenomena 1-5, Aratus of Cilicia
Tts 1:12 One of themselves, [even] a prophet of their own, said, “The Cretians [are] alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.”
(To Zeus) “They fashioned a tomb for thee, O holy and high one— The Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies! But thou art not dead: thou livest and abidest forever, For in thee we live and move and have our being.” – Cretan poet Epimenides
Neither does a book seeming to be mentioned by the Bible verify the book to be inspired Holy Scripture.
Jos 10:13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
2 Sa 1:18 Also he bade them teach the children of Judah [the use of] the bow: behold, [it is] written in the book of Jasher
For instance, even a quick Wikipedia study shows that the book being passed around today as the “book of Jasher” has been protested to not be such since its original publication in 1625 AD, and there is no evidence of it's existence prior to 1625. It is likely a fraud. Even if it was an ancient work, it seeming to be referenced in the Bible does not verify the book as scripture, just as in the same way as we have seen with First Enoch.
Behold, it [the Zohar] is like Sefer ha-Yashar, which they printed (without my knowledge and without the knowledge of the sages here in Venice, about twenty years ago). Although I removed the fantasies and falsehoods from it, [eg,] that it is the Sefer ha-Yashar mentioned in Scripture, there are still those who claim that it was discovered during the time of the destruction [of the temple]. But who can stop those who imagine in their minds whatever they wish. — Leon Modena, Ari Nohem, before 1648
In fact, the book of Jasher as referenced in the Bible is a slight mistranslation, as Jasher is not actually a name of a person, but in fact this is a mistranslation of the “Book of the Upright” or the “Book of the Just”; unlike the book that is being passed around today as the book of Jasher, which is using the name Jasher as a name.
“The Book of Jasher or Book of the Just Man (Hebrew sēfer ha yāšār ספר הישר) is an unknown book mentioned in the Hebrew Bible. The translation “Book of the Just Man” is the traditional Greek and Latin translation, while the rendering a personal name “Jasher” is found in the King James Bible, 1611… The Book of Joshua 10:13 states: And the Sun stood still, and the Moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of the Upright (Sēper haiYāšār)?… The Septuagint translation renders sefer hayashar in both cases as 'Book of the Just'.” – Wikipedia, Book of Jasher (biblical references)
Someone has already argued this fraudulent “book of Jasher” contradicts the holy scriptures on many counts, and as such is not inspired Holy scripture.
“There are 5 discrepancies, when comparing it with chapter 5 of Genesis, in chapter 5 alone. The first is in verse 1: 'And it was in the eighty-fourth year of the life of Noah that Enoch the son of Seth died;', Enoch was Jared's son, it was Enosh (or Enos), that was the son of Seth (or Set; Shet). Other than the confusion between Enosh and Enoch, the date is correct. The second is in verse 4: 'And Jared the son of Mahlallel died in those days, in the three hundred and thirty-sixth year of the life of Noah;', it was the 366th year of the life of Noah, that Jared died. The third is in verse 19: 'And Lamech the father of Noah died in those days; yet verily he did not go with all his heart in the ways of his father, and he died in the hundred and ninety-fifth year of the life of Noah.', it was the 595th year of Noah's life that Lamech died. The fourth is in verse 20: 'And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy years, and he died.', Lamech's age at death was 777. The fifth is in verse 36: ' And it was at that time Methuselah the son of Enoch died, nine hundred and sixty years old was he, at his death.', Methuselah (Matuvshelakh) was 969 at his death.” – Wikipedia
There are good reasons why some books are not considered Holy scripture and are not canon. Another example is the book of Jubilees. While it is dated to 100 BC, it has glaring contradictions against the Holy Bible, and the holy scriptures of the Old Testament, which kept it from ever being accepted as inspired. On major contradiction is it's advocating of a solar calendar, as opposed to the lunar calendar taught in the Bible, which equates the beginning of months with new moons, requiring the Jewish lunar calendar. To adopt the unbiblical solar calendar advocated by Jubilees, the Jews would have to ignore scriptural commandments. Jubilees contradicts inspired scripture.
The anonymous author had a preoccupation with calendar reform, and uses Jubilees as a platform for proposing a solar calendar of 364 days and 12 months; this would have been a radical departure from the Jewish Calendar, which is lunar-based. http://www.sacred-texts.com/bib/jub/
Throughout the Book of Jubilees, the author attempts to date all significant events by this method dating by weeks (seven year periods) and jubilees (forty-nine year periods). What is rejected is the lunar calendar consisting of 354 days, with six months having twenty-eight days and six months having twenty-nine days. http://www.abu.nb.ca/courses/ntintro/intest/jubilees.htm#J24

The Bible is true and trustworthy and good for all we need. Why should we trust anything else, anything that is not the Word of God, the pure words of God, which are true? We should not.
If you do want to share information with pastors or other Christians about fallen angels, one good resource is the online book “A Modern Guide to Demons and Fallen Angels” at the ParadoxBrown.com website.
If you are trying to explain to pastors or other Christians that the sons of God in Gen 6 are identified by the Bible as sinning angels, and explain the problems with the “sons of Seth” theory, or want to explain more about the fallen angels who remained after the Flood, the divine council called “powers and principalities” in the New Testament, probably the best resource for this is the work of Dr. Michael S. Heiser Phd .
His divine council website has many scholarly papers arguing for the sons of God being angels, and his SitchinIsWrong.com website teaches additional essential information on the word nephilim meaning “giants”, not “fallen ones”, essential in not getting confused as to what Gen 6 actually says. His other websites also offer a wealth of educational articles on various topics relating to the Christian ufological field, and ancient cultures from the unique perspective of a scholar of Hebrew, and ancient languages.
For some of you listening to this, you may have at one time felt that God led you to First Enoch, and the information therein confirming the Genesis 6 story. Not denying that possibility, there are alternative reasons such may have been the case, besides the nephilim themselves. It could be that First Enoch resurfaced as a clue for us to study the bible more closely, to find new information in it, or which had been lost, knowing better what to look for. Enoch seemed to reveal more information about 3 topics, the nephilim, the origin of demons and their being different from fallen angels, and the imprisonment of their fathers, the sinning angels, until the judgment. In fact, of the three, the nephilim is the topic stated matter of fact in the Bible, in plain sight. First Enoch revealed something much more obscured in the Bible, which was the origin of demons and confirmation that they are different than fallen angels. But the topic revealed by First Enoch which was most obscured in the Bible, so much so it has seemed absent, is the story of the imprisonment of the fallen angels, physically buried inside the earth, until the time of judgment.
Story of: | First Enoch | Bible |
Nephilim giants | Stated matter of fact | Stated matter of fact |
Origin of demons, demons different than fallen angels | Stated matter of fact | Obscured |
Imprisonment of sinning angels | Stated matter of fact | Seemed downright absent |
The knowledge that the “sons of God” were imprisoned in the earth, literally buried in the earth, has resurfaced by First Enoch, in these last days. Now Ezekiel 31 and 32 is shown to tell the story in detail, of how they were physically imprisoned inside the earth during the cataclysm of the worldwide Flood. And it may be the real end times significance here is not about the nephilim at all, but rather that the “sons of God” angels will be released from the Abyss, and physically return to the surface of the earth. This seems to be prophesied in Rev 9, that the “sons of God” will return, and among them the fallen angel king Abaddon.

Rev 9:1-3, 7-11 The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. They had a king among them, the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.
They are foretold to make themselves look like centaurs with wings and scorpion tales, and that this will be their actual visible appearance seems confirmed in Joel.
Joel 2b-6 Like dawn spreading across the mountains a large and mighty army comes, such as never was of old nor ever will be in ages to come. Before them fire devours, behind them a flame blazes. Before them the land is like the garden of Eden, behind them, a desert waste–nothing escapes them. They have the appearance of horses; they gallop along like cavalry. With a noise like that of chariots they leap over the mountaintops, like a crackling fire consuming stubble, like a mighty army drawn up for battle. At the sight of them, nations are in anguish; every face turns pale.
What would the people of earth think of an army of creatures that looked like this, if they appeared today? Probably aliens.
This fallen angel Abaddon may be the Beast from the Sea, the antichrist, who will claim to be god of humanity, an angel who looks like a man, who claims to be an alien, who created humanity.
When it comes to the field of Christian Ufology – which in part has the goal of reaching the Christian church about the alien deception – the book of First Enoch is not needed, nor wanted. Most bible believing churches do not want the book of First Enoch, and rightly so, because it is not scripture. We have heard numerous complaints over the years of Christians being ostracized from churches due to promoting First Enoch to them, but there is no reason to be doing that. First Enoch, and the topic of nephilim, are completely irrelevant topics to Christian ufology that do not need to even be mentioned in order to present Christian research on the alien deception to Christian churches.
There are 4 points of Christian ufology research that we feel are need to be presented to Christian churches in order to teach them about the alien deception. And in fact, not a one of them is prophecy – understanding the prophetic significance of the alien deception, the strong delusion, is a more advanced meat topic, for those who already have understood the rest, and prophecy should not be how this topic is introduced. There are 4 key points that should be presented, and they are:
1. The evidence that the entire idea that there is alien life, stems from the theory of evolution and the idea that if life evolved here it must have evolved elsewhere. This is especially how to start when sharing this information with young earth creationists. Gary Bates' book or videos are a great introduction. (Also see Creation.com )
2. The evidence that “alien abduction” experiences are caused by evil spirits is the testimonies of former abductees, now Christians, who have not only stopped these experiences, but terminated them as a life pattern, in the name and authority of Jesus Christ, and God has changed their lives around as Christians. Joe Jordan's website and videos are an excellent resource for this.
3. The evidence that the messages of the “aliens” to “abductees” are anti-bible and anti-Christ proves that these entities are not of God, in fact are preaching a false gospel. Guy Malone's website or videos cover this very well.
4. The evidence that supernatural experiences described by “abductees”, when analyzed, show that the abilities of these “aliens” exactly parallels the abilities shown in the Bible of fallen angels to cause False Visions, and also False signs and wonders. Paradox Brown's website and books cover this in detail.
As said at the beginning of this video, while we were once known as proponents of the book of Enoch, Our views have changed as a result of continued research and new findings, and we therefore can no longer encourage others to reference to the Book of Enoch nor believe it is even useful for the field of alien abduction research.
Promoting the Book of Enoch is simply not effective. It's a stumbling block in fact to actually being heard or received. Getting the modern church to research or be open to any teaching on so-called aliens is hard enough already, without adding the stumbling block of getting them to accept a non-canonical book that many will reject out of hand.
Remember, the goal in presenting biblical truth to the lost or the saved about the alien topic is to impart to them simply that it represents spiritual deception opposed to genuine extra-terrestrial activity. If you accomplish that, than you have won the battle and equipped your brother or sister with truth, and for effective ministry to others. We've found that it is much more effective communicating these things by using only the arguments we previously mentioned above, and allowing one's approach to remain solo scriptura.
So we thank you for watching, and would like to encourage you also to tailor your approach on this topic to likewise remain sola scriptura.
God's word is sufficient all by itself, and his Bible can be trusted as the sole source for sound and effective doctrinal teaching.

Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
